Day 23 - January 23, 2011

Another eventful day! We started out cold again. (This is what I get for complaining about YESTERDAY'S temperature!)
Natalie had to sing with Traveling Choir at Grace in Oshkosh, but she was dressed for the cold bus ride. That girl knows how to plan ahead.

With Natalie on her way Jim and I headed out for early church. Jim got installed as a district elder today.

The sun was shining on the church bells
when we arrived. It looked very cool.

After church we finished the foot-ball cookies...

Then it was off to Grandma's to watch the NFC championship game between the Packers and the Bears.

The game turned out to be quite nerve-wracking for some of us...

As most of you know, Grandma takes her sports very seriously...

Fortunately it ended well!

The Packers are going to the Super Bowl! Final score: Packers 21, Bears 14.

Aside from the NFC game, today featured several other special holidays. January 23rd is among other things National Pie Day (no, I didn't make any pies), National Handwriting Day, and get this, Measure Your Feet Day! You'll see a sample of my handwriting later, and after a little internal debate, I did decide to measure our feet, I mean, why not, right? Well, I measured Jim's and mine anyway. Tiffany went to work and Natalie wasn't interested in participating. Party pooper. : (

Official Measurements: Jim = 11 1/2 in. long, 5 in. wide, Mine = 6 in. long, 3 1/2 in. wide. Between us two Jim clearly has the greater "understanding!"
All silliness aside, this little exercise took me back to this morning's sermon. (The scripture passage of the day for today is from the sermon text.)

Scripture Passage of the Day:

How often don't we "talk the talk" but fail to "walk the walk" of being Christians? It was a good reminder!
