Wedding Decoration Crafting Day

At one o'clock this afternoon (well it was actually later than that for me because I couldn't get my ducks in a row in time) our "ready and willing" work crew gathered at church to make decorations for Nick and Tanya's wedding. Tanya was very organized and we soon broke into groups to begin the three different projects she had scheduled.

First up were the 3-D hearts. Natalie, Melissa, Sue and Meghan got to work cutting the paper strips...

...and Grandma became the "glue gun queen" putting them together and punching the hanging hole.

Meanwhile Tanya and Laura began planning how to construct the garland...

...and Tanya's mom began cutting out the countless hearts we would need.

Then it was just a matter of laying out the twine...

...and gluing on the hearts...

While the garlanders were hard at work, Tanya's cousins, Melissa and I tackled the three big hearts that are going to hang between the windows in the hall. Tanya's cousins began rolling tubes of sheet music,...

...even little Nathaniel, the ring bearer, helped...

...and Melissa and I began gluing the tubes onto the cardboard bases.

Once the bases had two layers of tubes I made the centers out of contrasting paper and more sheet music...

During this time the garlanders continued to be hard at work. Our goal was to have fifteen fifty-foot long strands. Tanya later downsized that to nine strands but it still took a while...

But finally, (Hi, Nick.) about four and a half hours after we had started, the last heart was attached...

...and we declared ourselves finished!

Our happy work crew had completed all the projects...

...and the only thing left to do was decide how and where to store them. What a fun day! Thank you to everyone who came to help, we couldn't have done it without you!

When Natalie and I got home Jim was ready with a yummy dinner of grilled hamburgers, a perfect end to the day, thanks honey!
