Nick and Tanya Travel, A Minor Household Accident, More Wedding Planning

Hi all! It's been a week or so since the last post so I'll stick to the highlights of what has happened in the meantime.

On Thursday, Jan.10, we said good-bye and Nick and Tanya headed back to their respective responsibilities.

We thank God that they both had good traveling weather and reached their destinations safely. Back at home the boys' room was back to "normal" and the house was WAY too quiet again.

I decided the best way to get over the sadness of the kids leaving was to get caught up on domestic duties, starting with the laundry. It was a good plan until I returned to the laundry room and found...

...that an almost entirely full/new bottle of laundry detergent wiggled itself off the counter during a spin cycle, cracked its top off, and emptied itself onto the floor. The soap ran under the washing machine platform and down the steps into the back entry.

The dilema was how to clean up a mess like that without making lots of suds and consequently a bigger sticky mess. The answer was a dust pan and a putty knife. I scooped it up and then mopped the floor. It only took two hours! Two days later the soap was still oozing out from under the platform. We are gonna have to tear it up to clean underneath. That sounds like a summer job to me...

Meanwhile we have continued to be busy with wedding planning. Tiffany has been working on her wedding budget and finalizing her invitation design.

Tanya and I are also working on the invitations for her and Nick's wedding which required me to make a trip to Hobby Lobby for paper shopping. (What a hardship!) It was exciting to see how many options we have! I can't wait to get started.

Next Monday a friend from church and I will get together and figure out exactly how we want to make the invitations. I am really looking forward to that and already forming a work crew to help out.

I thank God for these two girls, Tiffany and Tanya, who are so practical and willing to do money saving things like planning to make decorations and some of the other things for the wedding ourselves. It is making things really fun as well as economical!
