Thanksgiving 2012

Jim's mom died on Nov. 20, two days before Thanksgiving, which was also the same day I had the appointment with the ear, nose and throat doctor. Even with all of these unplanned events, we were able to find time to prepare the house and food for the Ninmann Thanksgiving gathering which was held at our house this year.

Nov. 21 (the day before Thanksgiving) my weather predictor indicated that we were experiencing a snowfall...

...but as usual it was WRONG...

...correct me if I'm wrong, but there is not a snowflake in sight in this sunny sky!

Natalie and I went to work with the cooking and made a real mess of the kitchen...

We also took some time to dig her antique canister set out of deep storage and display it on top of the kitchen cabinets. This is something we have been planning to do since last year! I think it looks really pretty up there. :)

On Thanksgiving Day we started early by hosting a Packers/Lions game party. Just this one time we dressed in blue and gray and cheered for the Lions. We did this in honor of Jimmy who is from Michigan and had planned to be with us for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but he was banned from travel by his doctor because of the infection in his arm and the treatment it required.

We skyped with Jimmy during the game so it was almost like he was there with us. We love you Jimmy!

That evening the rest of the family arrived for Thanksgiving dinner. The house was packed and the table was elbow to elbow with love and laughs. I absolutely love my family. We have been so very blessed!

Scripture Verse of the Day:
"I will praise God's name in song
and glorify him with thanksgiving."
Psalm 69:30
